Theme: St. Ignatius of Loyola- Feast Day: July 31

Saturday July 16, 1pm: Madrid in August is HOT! Going on a pilgrimage often involves quite a bit of walking. Let’s work on our physical preparation and break in those walking shoes by going for a hike.

We will leave the SH parking lot at 1pm and return around 5pm.

Permission slips are needed for this event. Bring plenty of water.

Challenge: St. Ignatius was a soldier in the early 16th century. When he found himself bed-ridden from battle, he sought out books on chivalry. Finding none he began to read a book on the lives of the saints. These books relaying the lives of holy men and women including St. Francis and St. Dominic inspired his conversion, he who would become the founder of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits). Take time this month to read up on the lives of the saints—perhaps those who have influenced you, your confirmation saint, American saints, or any you are interested in—and pray that you may have the courage to follow the saints’ example in living a holy life, and saying yes to all God has planned for you, that one day we may be with God and all His angels and saints in heaven.
