Hospital Visitation
Hospital Visitation

Hospital patients or their
families,  should call the Parish
Office prior to or during
hospitalization if they would
like to receive the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or the Sacramant of the Anointing of the Sick.

Because of  the new HIPPA laws, we are not  notified by the hospitals when a parishioner has been admitted.
Evangelical Hospital

Monsignor Richardson is the Chaplain to Evangelical Hospital. He visits the Catholic patients  whenever he is called upon by the patient  family or hospital staff.

This would include not only Sacred Heart Parish Parishioners, but any Catholics in the Hospital.

Geisinger Medical Center

Father Lawrence is the Chaplain at Geisinger Medical Center. He visits all Catholic patients  whenever he is called upon by the patient, the family or the hospital staff.

Father  Lawrence is a full time chaplain salaried by the parishes of the Northern Deanery.
Other Hospitals

All hospitals have either a full time or part time Chaplain (connected to a parish).

For emergency purposes, these chaplains minister to ALL Catholcs in their respective hospital, regardless of Parish affiliation

The Sacramant of the Sick

When persons are: seriously ill, preparing to enter the hospital or suffering
from old age, they are encouraged to receive the Sacramant of the Anointing
of the Sick. This can be done prior to entering the hospital.

When persons are dying, they are encouraged to receive the Last Rites
of the Church, which is the Sacramant of the Eucharist as Viaticum (Latin for "on the way").
