The Sacrament of Confirmation
This is the third and last Sacrament of Initiation.
Baptism and Holy Eucharist being the first two.
Normally, in the Diocese of Harrisburg,
Catholics receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, after a two year preparation period,
in the Eighth Grade
The Minister of the Sacrament of Confirmation
The Ordinary Minister of the Sacrament of Confirmation is the Bishop.
The Bishop confirms all Catholics who have received the
Sacrament of Baptism and Holy Eucharist.
The Bishop can delegate a priest to be the Extraordinary Minister
in certain cases
If a person is being received into the Catholic Church,
the Bishop delegates a priest to minister
the Sacrament of Confirmation
after they have received the other two sacraments of initiation;
Baptism and/or Eucharist
Adult Confirmation - Pentecost Sunday
For Catholics who have not received this third and last Sacrament of Initiation earlier in life.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated
by the Bishop every Pentecost Sunday at
the Cathedral Church in Harrisburg.
The Bishop can also delegate a priest
to Confirm the adult in the Parish Church.
Some preparation and instruction is necessary
before the sacrament can be celebrated.
