The Ministry of Hospitality
Saint Thomas Aquinas stated a very basic truth that has great implications for the ministry of Hospitality. He said that, “Grace builds on nature”. In other words, before you can get to the supernatural (Grace), you must concern yourself with the natural.
One of the most natural needs that we have is the need to feel welcome and accepted; to feel comfortable and safe. When these needs are met and only when these needs are met, are we able to move to the Supernatural.
Because of this basic premise of St. Thomas Aquinas, the ministry welcoming is not an addendum to the other liturgical ministries but a necessary, primary service to the overall Worship experience of those who come to Sacred Heart Church.
