As you know, the Church has taken a very strong stance, in these last few years regarding Child Abuse. This has come after a greater understanding of the issue and the mistakes that were made in the past.
Among a multiplicity of programs in place, to keep our children safe are the
Requirements for employees and volunteers who work with children and youth in the Catholic Church.
In our parish, the volunteers who help with these programs and any like them need to fulfill all the requirements.
- High School Youth Ministry
- Middle School Youth Ministry
- Grade School Youth Ministry
- Religious Education Program
- Liturgy of the Word for Children
In addition, volunteers in any programs where children or teens might be invited to participate such as: dinners, community soup kitchen, convalescent home visitation, ETC. must also have the required clearances.
The requirements are:
- Completed employee/volunteer disclosure statement
Pa State Police clearances
DPW – Childline clearance
FBI report if that person has not lived in PA for the last 2 years.
Completed On line training course – yearly
These clearances are good as long as the individual is an active volunteer or employee
I am so appreciative of all our many, many child and teen volunteers in the parish and I hate to have to put any of us through this process. But, because you are a volunteer, you like me, want to do every thing we can to safeguard the children entrusted to us.
Thank You.
Fr. Bill
